I hope everyone had a great weekend! Ours went by very fast! This morning, we started the day by starting a new mini-project for ELA. Because we are learning about social justice issues for our book club, the students are choosing an issue of their choice and are going to write and perform a rap/slam poetry/poetry based on that specific topic. We will be recording these over a beat. At 10:00, we went to the library for book exchange and did some silent reading. After recess, they students had 30 mins of Phys. Ed. with Mme Barthel and 30 mins of Arts. Ed. where we worked on our Candy Pop Art. At 12:40, we read a couple chapters from our read aloud. We also completed a math lesson based on the angles of a triangle. The students learned that a triangle's angles always equal to 180 degrees and how to find missing angles of a triangle. At 1:45, we continued our Health unit on publicity and commercials. Today, we discussed how products and companies have changed our the years. We watched a few commercials of Camel's cigarettes and Coca-cola from the 1950's and how they promoted them for very different reasons! We had a good class discussion about the videos! Finally, to end the day, we had Science and the students started their Electricity timeline using Adobe Spark Video. They need to research 10 different events that they feel are very important to the evolution of electricity and present it in the form of a video.
